Abbott to broaden trial of bioabsorbable stent based on study findings

The ABSORB study of 30 people implanted with Abbott Laboratories' bioabsorbable, drug-eluting stent found the stent to be "safe, effective and easy to deploy," a lead researcher said. Abbott plans to follow the patients to evaluate long-term safety and performance and also will enroll new participants to continue the study in Europe.
