Big Dig costs rise, should be offset by settlements

Costs for the construction and administration of Boston's Big Dig project have increased by nearly $110 million, but the costs are expected to be offset by funds from contractors related to mistakes made on the project, according to the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority. Bechtel/Parsons Brinckerhoff, the largest contractor on the project, is in negotiations with the state to pay about $109 million to settle claims.
