FDA's responsibilities too great, resources too few, chief says

The FDA's mounting responsibilities and inadequate resources are hindering its ability to safeguard and promote public health, Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach said Wednesday at a conference in Washington. But the agency has been working to overcome this crisis and has an excellent prognosis, von Eschenbach said.
