Schapiro seeks to expand SEC's regulatory role

The Securities and Exchange Commission is considering whether legislation is needed to fill holes in regulatory oversight, Chairwoman Mary Schapiro told the Senate Banking Committee. The SEC is also pushing to gain oversight of market intermediaries that are unregulated, including financial and swap advisers.
