Scheppach: HIT standards will help improve long-term care

Developing health IT standards will enhance quality measurement, which is needed to pursue health care reform in long-term care, Ray Scheppach, executive director of the National Governors Association, told a congressional subcommittee. Scheppach said measurements, standards and care coordination are part of the process for setting up reimbursement models that more effectively reward long-term care providers and customize patient care.
