Rheumatoid arthritis is on the rise among white women

Researchers found an increase in the percentage of white women with rheumatoid arthritis in the U.S. from 1995 to 2007 and said that environmental, rather than genetic, factors are likely the cause. Smoking, oral contraceptives and vitamin D deficiency may be linked to the increase, researchers said.
