Therapies can reduce extent of keloid surgery

Earlobe keloids can be managed surgically, according to a study published in Dermatologic Surgery, but some may respond to intralesional steriods, compression therapy and massage using silicone-based gels, dermatologist Lily Talakoub writes. The treatment can decrease recurrence and improve the size and thickness of keloids, reducing the extent of surgery required, she writes.
