IC Insights: Samsung, Intel to represent 42% of 2013 capex

Samsung Electronics and Intel are expected to account for 42% of the semiconductor industry's capital spending in 2013, compared with 40% last year, according to IC Insights. The market research firm estimates that Samsung, Intel and three other chipmakers -- GlobalFoundries, SK Hynix and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing -- will spend more than $3 billion on facilities and semiconductor production equipment this year.
