Oracle leverages Sun's Sparc to gain foothold in processor race

Oracle has broadened its Unix-based hardware platform with the introduction of two high-performance servers for use in database, Java and enterprise applications. The Sparc T5 and M5 servers use Oracle Solaris and feature the ultra-fast Sparc 5 processor. Oracle CEO Larry Ellison said the product launch is part of an expanded push to further integrate the company's software and hardware capabilities through advanced processor development.
