Samsung gets $7M in incentives to expand Silicon Valley operations

The City Council of San Jose, Calif., has approved tax incentives worth $7 million for a Samsung Semiconductor expansion of its Silicon Valley research-and-development center. The city was competing with Austin, Texas, for the chipmaker's R&D operations. Meanwhile, nearby Mountain View has approved plans for a new office campus to be occupied by Samsung Information Systems America.
