Despite its potential as a measure to moderate the fall of the yen against South Korea's won, the government in Seoul is expected to refrain from immediate imposition of a tax on foreign currency transactions. The so-called Tobin tax, now on a list for later consideration, has elicited warnings that it could spark a sudden outflow of funds.
