Assets of major public pension funds hit a record $3.2T

Between the end of 2012 and the end of 2013, assets held by the 100 biggest public pension funds increased 12.5%, reaching $3.192 trillion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. That marked the biggest total since the agency began the Quarterly Survey of Public Pensions in 1968.
