EIA: Shale boom helped U.S. produce 10% of the world's oil supply in 2013

Unconventional oil production in the U.S. enabled the country to produce 10% of the world's supply in 2013, according to the Energy Information Administration. The U.S. produced an average of 7.84 million barrels of oil per day during the fourth quarter of 2013, the EIA said.
