The president meets the pope

President Barack Obama met with Pope Francis at the Vatican today. Obama told the pontiff that he was "a great admirer" of his work and said that the pope's social gospel was an inspiration for his own attempts to tackle income inequality. U.S. Catholic groups lobbied the Vatican ahead of the meeting, hoping that the pope would push Obama to act on issues ranging from immigration reform to abortion and contraception.
