Survey looks at health IT's effect on provider-patient face time

The rise in health IT use lessened face time between patients and providers from 2008 to 2012, according to the results of the Health IT Survey. The survey found providers have increased adoption and use of tools such as social networking sites, patient/member portals and wireless monitoring solutions. The population of providers who spent no face time with patients rose 5% from 2010 to 2012, the report showed.
