WHO: Southeast Asia is declared polio-free, boosting world total to 80%

The United Nations World Health Organization has declared that 11 Southeast Asian countries are free from polio, meaning the disease is absent from 80% of the world. WHO is striving to meet its goal of making the world free of polio by 2018 but is facing challenges in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.
