Fed schedules public hearings on Bank of America's takeover of Countrywide

In an unusual move, the Federal Reserve Board has set up public hearings in Los Angeles and Chicago to gather opinions about Bank of America's proposed acquisition of Countrywide Financial. The Fed said it intends to gather information relating to factors that must be considered to allow the deal to close under the Bank Holding Company Act.
