Opinion: Extending rate freeze would put taxpayers at risk

Extending the rate freeze for Florida's Citizens Property Insurance is financially irresponsible, writes The St. Petersburg Times editorial board. Instead, lawmakers should start gradually increasing Citizens' premiums next year, the board writes. The board also writes that it supports a proposal that would reduce the state's risk in the Hurricane Catastrophe Fund.
