Washington governor signs $50 million flood control measure

Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire has signed legislation authorizing a $50 million flood-control project for the Chehalis River. An 11-mile network of levees currently being designed by the Army Corps of Engineers will require another $74 million in federal funding, and only $1.2 million of that is expected this year.
