Ill. EPA wants court order against idled ethanol plant for pollution

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has called on the state's attorney general to seek a court order requiring the idled Riverland ethanol plant, and adjacent grain facilities, to clean up ground contamination and end discharges of contaminated runoff. The grains facility next to the closed ethanol plant is owned by Green Lion Bio-Fuels and leased by Andersons. The agency alleges that the three companies allowed discharges from rotting corn condensate, stockpiled ash and corn-milling products.
