Cash reserves could hold key to economic recovery

The amount of excess cash held by U.S. corporations is at its highest level in more than four decades, according to data from the Federal Reserve and Credit Suisse. Companies that hold on to their cash could be prolonging the economic recovery by not putting it to more efficient use, writes Credit Suisse chief economist Neal Soss.
