Social media presents prime avenue to reach older consumers

It's a big mistake to overlook social media when marketing to older consumers, as new data show they are rapidly taking up Facebook, YouTube and similar services, according to Bernie Brennan and Lori Schafer, authors of a new book on using mobile and social media in the retail industry. "When you look at their buying power, it is less, but their sheer numbers are more. The older population will grow 11% in the next couple years," said Brennan.
