BSEE OKs Shell's spill-response plan for Alaskan drilling project

Royal Dutch Shell's oil-spill-response plan for its Beaufort Sea drilling project in Alaska secured the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement's approval. "Our focus moving forward will be to hold Shell accountable and to follow-up with exercises, reviews and inspections to ensure that all personnel and equipment are positioned and ready," said BSEE Director James Watson in a statement. Shell, which seeks to commence drilling in the area in July, said the plan's approval is a "major milestone" in the company's Arctic-exploration efforts.
