Experts ID protein that triggers high blood glucose

A Spanish study in mice showed low levels of mitofusin 2 protein in the muscle and hepatic cells may lead to higher blood glucose concentration and impaired insulin sensitivity in the tissues. Researchers said the protein may offer a new target for drug development. The findings were published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
