Food industry feels the heat over beef product

Healthy-eating campaigners are claiming victory after a social media campaign against a recovered beef product commonly added to ground beef, called lean finely textured beef. YouTube videos and an online petition led supermarket chains, fast-food companies and school-lunch providers to declare they would stop using the product. "Now the demand for pink slime has dropped so dramatically that some of the factories are starting to shut down," said Brianna Cayo Cotter of Change.org.
