NBCT: Using neuroscience to help students retain lessons

Teachers should use neuroscience concepts to inform their teaching -- particularly in their approach to helping students develop long-term memories -- says National Board Certified Teacher Wendi Pillars. She suggests teachers continually build upon lessons and return to them over time; encourage deeper reflection by slowing down the learning process; plan lessons strategically; develop relationships with students; and establish relevance.
