Veterinary ophthalmologists donate service animal eye exams

In an effort to protect people who rely on service animals, some 200 veterinary ophthalmologists across the U.S. have performed free eye exams for service animals every May since 2008. Beneficiaries have included dogs, horses and one donkey, and last year, 5,000 service animals were evaluated. The event, which runs throughout May, is sponsored by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists.
