Bill would require N.C. hospitals to use HIE to publicize costs

A bill that would mandate hospitals in North Carolina use the website of the North Carolina Health Information Exchange to publicly display the costs of the 50 most common treatments was recently introduced in the state Senate. The Health Care Cost Reduction and Transparency Act would also require providers to inform patients about their charity care regulations by posting the policies online and in their facilities.
