Most hospitals use EHR incentive payments to fund IT efforts

Many hospitals that have received incentives for demonstrating meaningful use of EHRs are reinvesting those funds in current and future IT projects, said Jim Adams of The Advisory Board Company. These efforts include optimizing or upgrading EMR systems, deploying ambulatory EMRs at affiliated physician practices, and establishing health information exchanges.
