ONC official shares views on meaningful use, patient engagement

The industry does not seem to be in as much turmoil with respect to the EHR meaningful use effort as it once was, and it's crucial for the ONC to persuade providers to forge ahead with stages 2 and 3 of the program, said Judy Murphy, the ONC's deputy national coordinator for programs and policy. In this interview, Murphy shared that vocabulary-based lab standards will be key to interoperability under stage 2 MU, and patient engagement will be "a driving force" in the industry in the years ahead.
