Textured implants might pose higher risk of bacterial infections

Patients with textured silicone breast implants might be at higher risk for bacterial infections than those with smooth implants, a study to be published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery found. Implant patients should continue annual checkups with their plastic surgeons to prevent infections, the lead author said.
