Down to the sea -- in rovers

NASA's rover Opportunity has found evidence that some part of Mars' surface may have been submerged in water. Although current NASA rovers can't detect whether fossil microbes are present, a nuclear-powered rover landing planned for 2009 may be able to carry out that kind of exploration.
