Report: In stores, Apple offers iPhones with no contract

One week after AT&T announced plans to do the same, Apple reportedly has started to sell iPhone 3G handsets without requiring a contract, according to an Internet report. But, unlike AT&T, Apple is said to be allowing unlimited orders and not requiring buyers to be existing AT&T customers.
