SNM efforts help allow for DOE nuclear medicine funding

With the aid of SNM's lobbying, Congress has included a provision in the fiscal 2009 appropriations act that instructs the Department of Energy to allot $17.5 million on nuclear medicine research despite the DOE's intention to focus its resources on biological imaging. The DOE's Office of Biological and Environment Research said it will follow what is stated in the congressional directive.
