District to offer additional training for top substitutes

The Greenwich, Conn., school district is providing a week of additional training in math, literacy and technology this summer to 24 of its best substitute teachers, who regularly fill in for full-time teachers during professional-development sessions or extended absences. The training is part of a pilot program to boost the effectiveness of the district's "power subs" and ensure that they can provide a seamless transition for students during teacher absences.
