Oberstar steps up efforts to prevent airline alliances

Rep. James Oberstar, D-Minn., chairman of the House Transportation Committee, says he plans to increase efforts to repeal antitrust waivers that have allowed U.S. airlines to collaborate with foreign carriers on international routes. The effort underscores the obstacles that remain for the enhanced trans-Atlantic market access that was secured with the 2007 pact between the U.S. and the European Union.
