Shaw will start 1-Gig trial in Vancouver high-rise

Canada's Shaw Communications has provided more insight into its upcoming test of 1-gigabit-per-second Internet service, saying it will test the technology -- as well as fiber-to-the-home service -- in a variety of scenarios, starting with a high-rise apartment building in Vancouver in the spring. The company said it had not decided whether it will deploy GPON, EPON or 10G-EPON technology in its physical passive optical network.
