Act now on peace plan, Ban tells Syria's Assad

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and ministers of the Arab League on Wednesday urged the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad to begin to implement the UN-backed plan calling for a cease-fire, the release of political prisoners and dialogue with the country's fragmented opposition, who believe Assad is merely playing for time.
