Ferber seeks tighter conditions in clearing competition

The EU plans to increase competition in financial-transaction clearing, but Markus Ferber, a member of the European Parliament, said conditions should be more restrictive. In a report, Ferber voiced concern about clearing competition and warned that competing clearinghouses' rights must not result in "interoperability for derivatives clearing or create liquidity fragmentation."
