The rise of artemisinin-resistant malaria in Southeast Asia puts a burden on the countries in the region to take steps to contain resistant strains. The government of Myanmar in partnership with the World Heath Organization has a plan to combat artemisinin-resistant malaria, but the funding to implement the plan has yet to be pledged.
