Physician groups protest regulation overlap to CMS

The American Medical Association, together with other physician specialty associations, warned the CMS about the overlap in the ICD-10 transition schedule and the deadlines of other initiatives, including the physician quality reporting system and EHRs. "We urge CMS to re-evaluate the penalty timelines associated with these programs and examine the administrative and financial burdens and intersection of these various federal regulatory programs," the associations stated in a letter sent to Marilyn Tavenner, acting administrator of the CMS.
