Recycling of asphalt shingles struggles to gain traction

Recycling asphalt shingles into pavement is struggling to gain acceptance due to the presence of other materials in tear-off roofing, writes Rebecca Van Nydeggen. However, the "Shingle Recycling RASOlution" from the Construction Materials Recycling Association and the National Asphalt Pavement Association aims to change this, and the organizations been instrumental in redirecting more than 1,000,000 tons of tear-off and production waste shingles from landfills and recycling them, Van Nydeggen notes.
