Though engineering is a key component of STEM, it hasn't gotten the same level of attention as science, math and technology, writes education blogger and reporter Erik Robelen. However, engineering is gaining more steam, especially with a new National Assessment of Educational Progress exam on engineering literacy and pending science standards, among other initiatives, he notes.
