FCC's digital files are a bonanza for savvy thieves

Thieves who know their way around a database are finding account numbers and other information in the Federal Communications Commission's digital files on political ad buyers, and some have skimmed off thousands of dollars from political consultants. The FCC recently added a warning that "[s]tations that do place checks in the online political file may want to consider redacting any customer account information before making the material available online."
