Forecast: Local advertising flat, while digital part gains ground

Local advertising spending is predicted to be fairly stable at $132.7 billion this year, but digital advertising's portion of that market should grow, according to a BIA/Kelsey forecast. Traditional media spending should decrease from $109.4 billion to $107 billion, while digital local increases from $23 billion to $25.7 billion, the firm projects. The trend should continue through at least 2017, when digital is expected to make up 27.6% of all local ad spending.
