Strategic value of Big Data eludes most firms, poll finds

Less than a third of enterprises that have embraced Big Data have managed to draw benefits from the investment, according to a survey that finds companies are being hampered by security issues, staffing problems and budgetary constraints. According to a poll of 1,800 IT professionals in 18 countries conducted by Cisco, more than half of respondents say they will be earmarking more money for Big Data projects this year, but 38% admitted they lack a strategic plan for success.
