National education data Web site launches

A new Web site, www.schoolmatters.com, collects and aggregates state data on per-pupil expenditures, standardized test scores and enrollment demographics, teacher compensation and other factors to facilitate comparisons across school districts and between states. The site is administered by Standard & Poor's School Evaluation Services, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, and gets funding from governmental and institutional sources.
