Analysis: Google Base not after eBay's business

Forbes reporter Rachel Rosmarin suggests that Google's user-generated classified service Google Base, which is now beta-testing, is not meant to challenge eBay for primacy as a Web-based marketplace. Instead, the Google Base listings will offer desirable placement for the army of AdSense advertisers who will want the change to target advertising to online shoppers.
