House subcommittee examines corporate reporting improvements

Some House lawmakers are pushing to simplify corporate financial reports, declaring it "must be a top priority" at a recent House Financial Services' subcommittee hearing. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce said earnings guidance should be discontinued and alternative performance measures should be sought, while the Securities Industry Association said reporting decisions should not be mandated by law or regulation but left to individual companies.
