Drop in business aviation weighs on Embraer's 2008 results

Embraer's CEO says a 27% drop in business jet revenues for the fourth quarter precipitated a 20.6% decline in net profit for all of 2008. For the full year, Embraer's commercial sales were up 3%, and government/defense sales rose 17.5%. Frederico Fleury Curado said the company won't consider any changes to its commercial lineup for approximately two years as it awaits advances in airframe and engine technology, as well as moves by Boeing Co. and Airbus.
